What are chat violations?
Definition
Chat violations refer to activities violating Shopee's policies when a seller communicates with other buyers or sellers via Shopee Seller Chat.
To ensure that Shopee is a safe and friendly space for both sellers and buyers to conduct transactions, we will take action against any user who commits any of these violations:
- Sending rude or abusive chat messages
- Asking buyers to cancel orders
- Directing transactions outside of the Shopee platform
- Engaging in chat spam
Avoiding chat violations
To avoid chat violations, always engage with buyers in a professional manner. You should also be careful not to send messages that contain information of external platforms, with the intention to direct transactions outside of the Shopee platform.

- Chat Response calculations, including types of messages that you should reply to.
What is chat spam?
Chat spam refers to the mass sending of messages to multiple users. Promotional messages that are not malicious will also be considered chat spam if they are not sent via official Shopee tools such as Chat Assistant Auto-Reply, FAQ Assistant, Chat Broadcast, or Open API.
⚠️ Note
- Users engaging in chat spam will have all future messages blocked. They may also have their account banned, and will not be able to conduct any further transactions on Shopee.
- If you receive a spam message on Shopee Seller Chat, you'll still have to reply to the user, unless they have already been banned. Once the sender is banned, your CRR will not be affected if you ignore their spam message.

If you come across any messages that you suspect to be spam, you should Report this user immediately via the more options icon.

You can submit an appeal via Seller Centre if you have been blocked from sending Shopee Seller Chat messages due to chat spam.
